The Forecast

As the clouds gather
For another downpour;
The petichor
Of the damp earth,
The forgotten
Dripping clothes,
On the clothesline,
And as I retrieve them,
From the squalid state,
My drenched wet frame…
I’m reminded of you.

“The First Taste of Monsoon “

The rain drops
Like diamonds
From the grey canopy
Of angry clouds.

The rain drops
Quenching the thirst
Of the parched earth.

The rain falls,
The thunder lights
The pitch-black night sky.

The rain falls,
Drenching the laundry
Hung-out to dry earlier;
Caressing my ears
With the rhythm
Of a soft wet lullaby.
